Flyfunston

They had cars lit up all over the place around Funston this afternoon, with two cars blocking the park entrance and soon more blocking the entire stretch of Skyline Blvd. Anyone know what was up?

Awesome day at Funston. Some excitement early on, as I was the first to launch in light Northy breeze. Just passing the drainpipe, I see a guy on the beach waiving frantically, yelling at me to get out of the air. Recalling the SFPD cru...iser in the parking lot, and noting the news helicopter flying nearby, I opted to heed his advice and top landed ASAP. Several minutes later, a huge explosion rocked the cliff, and a cloud of smoke drifts up the face of the cliff. I suspect recent storms have unearthed WWII munitions, and the bomb disposal guys were working. After the chopper left, we all returned to the air for the rest of the afternoon.
